LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT WHILE OPERATING A CMV

OVERVIEW

A driver of a CMV who is convicted of leaving the scene of an accident is subject to the penalties set forth in N.J.S.A. 39:4-129. However, if the driver was operating a CMV, he or she will also face a one to three year suspension of the CDL, for a first offense. Moreover, this offense may also constitutes a crime of the fourth degree, when it results in serious bodily injury.
